This project aims to create a set of strategies for Zimbabwe’s mining sector using the scenario planning technique. Different scenarios of the mining sector’s future will be developed; a strategy will be selected from the set of strategies based on robustness across all scenarios. Indicators of a possible change in the economic landscape will also be formed. Four scenarios, which describe the possible futures of Zimbabwe’s mining industry, have been developed to assist in the formulation and selection of a robust strategy. The scenarios are: Chinese Checkers; Check Mate; Patience and Full House. Concludes that although the project has focused on the mining sector, it has shown that Scenario Planning can be a useful tool for modelling a country holistically and should be used in the future to model other sectors in Zimbabwe.
