The Report highlights the extent of change which is necessary across the whole of society to reverse the trend towards obesity. It acknowledges that the urgency of the situation demands action now to develop “practice-based evidence” rather than waiting for the evidence to accumulate through traditional channels from which to implement “evidence- based policy.” Fortuitously, many of the necessary changes are consistent with other policy agendas such as sustainability, well-being and aging. This has provided a much broader platform for engagement of departments and interest groups well beyond the traditional health sector.
